AI Visibility Audit: Everlane (36% score)

How visible is Everlane when people use ChatGPT to shop for clothes?

AI Visibility Audit: Everlane (36% score)

I've been analyzing AI discovery patterns across major brands. Here's what happened when I tested Everlane:

I searched "Buy sustainable clothing online" in ChatGPT.

Everlane - one of the most famous sustainable fashion brands - was completely missing. Instead, PACT dominated the results.

I tested 11 purchase scenarios to understand why.

Method: Fresh ChatGPT-4 sessions, purchase-intent queries
Result: 36% visibility (4 of 11 scenarios)

WHERE EVERLANE DOMINATED

  • "Where to buy transparent fashion" - Featured prominently

  • "Buy Reformation alternative" - Strong positioning

  • "Buy minimalist workwear for women" - Dominated results

  • "Buy cashmere sweaters" - Appeared in DTC context

EVERLANE’S BLIND SPOTS

  • "Buy sustainable clothing online" - Missing entirely

  • "Buy organic cotton t-shirts" - PACT dominated instead

  • "Buy women's basics online" - Absent from core category

  • "Sustainable clothing with free shipping" - Not mentioned

THE AI POSITIONING PARADOX

The business impact: Missing core category searches means missing customers who don't know to search for your specific positioning.

Strong brand differentiation can actually limit AI categorization. Everlane's "transparency" strength limits "sustainable fashion" visibility.
