Shopify's Sidekick can now answer from inside 16 apps

Running a re-engagement campaign until last week needed four things:

→ Inventory on the hero SKU
→ Klaviyo flow performance for the week
→ Return rate on that product through Loop
→ Loyalty redemption through Smile for the last quarter

Four questions in four dashboards and four tab switches before anything goes out.

Shopify's Spring '26 Edition changed the architecture behind that workflow.

What App Extensions actually are

Shopify added a mechanism called Sidekick App Extensions. It lets third-party apps expose their data and workflows directly inside the Sidekick chat window in admin. No tab switch or logging into a separate platform. There are two different types.

1 → Data extensions surface partner app data inside the conversation. Ask about Klaviyo campaign revenue, return reasons in Loop, or active loyalty members in Smile. The answer comes back in the same window. The extension pulls structured data from the partner's system - records, counts, rates, status - and Sidekick returns it in natural language.

2 → Action extensions are different. They don't answer questions - they take you somewhere. Sidekick identifies what you're trying to do, opens the right spot inside the partner app with the relevant context already staged, and waits for your approval.

You don't need to name the app when you ask. Sidekick routes to the right app extension based on what you asked and which apps are installed.

16 partners (by category)

The extensions only activate for apps you have installed on your store.

Marketing: Klaviyo, Seguno, Mailchimp, TikTok, Checkout Links

Covering flow performance, campaign revenue, send stats, and conversion attribution. Klaviyo and Seguno both have action surfaces for email drafting - Sidekick can open the editor with a campaign staged.

Customers: Judge.me, Loop Returns, AfterShip, Smile, Yotpo

Return reasons and rates, shipment status, loyalty member counts and redemption velocity, review ratings and response drafts. Judge.me is the clearest example of an action extension - "help me respond to recent low-star reviews" opens with a pre-loaded draft.

Promotions: Abra Promotions, Discount Kit. This covers revenue driven by specific promotions, active discount performance, and gift-with-purchase conversion.

Products: Printful, Syncee - covering print-on-demand order status, trending products in your category, and supplier shipping coverage by location.

Store operations: Matrixify, Avia by Retailogists

The gap you might run into

Sixteen partners launched with active extensions. Only two of them launched with some documentation or prompts - the remaining launched without a reference for what to ask. The extensions exist and work, but the scope of what each one can surface is unclear.

This means the right question for a Smile loyalty prompt is different from the right question for a Klaviyo flow prompt. Generic questions either return nothing or surface data that does not match what the extension is built to answer.

I mapped 47 prompts across all 16 partners and Sidekick.

If a prompt doesn't invoke the extension you expected, or Sidekick returns something different than what's in the pack, do tell me.
